Welcome to the future of electronic junk and modern recycling.
Please remember to keep your techno gadgets switched on for the show!
Skylab is based on the true story of a NASA space station which plummeted to Earth in 1979 and scattered electronic space debris over rural Western Australia.
River is ten years old and terrified of the possibility that his nation has become the official dumping ground for space junk. While River worries that his world is about to end, his friend Joe Junk eagerly awaits the most profitable pile of scrap-metal in the junk recycling business.
Enter the mysterious Dallas Penski. Is she a NASA engineer, CIA agent or AI robot? And what is she going to do about River, Joe Junk and Skylab?
In Skylab, animatronic characters, space stations, robots and pets are made from an endless list of suburban refuse… VCRs, TVs, vacuum cleaners, food processors, electronic keyboards… even Skylab’s soundtrack is generated by electronic beeping appliances and children’s toys!
Audience members can purchase a ticket to one special performance by giving up their own electrical junk to be incorporated into the show.
The future of your planet is only a space jump away…
