Joy to grief, grief to love – but oh to dream...

COOP is black humour puppetry not for the faint-hearted.

Three performers (and a chicken) use a range of puppetry forms to tell a provocative, visceral and humorous tale about a father sinking into dementia and his two incestuous children.

Postmodern in nature, COOP is a non-linear story pieced together in a chaotic and repetitive way to emphasise the fragmented mind of the father.

Set in a chicken coop with a hen who dreams of being a ballerina, the father believes he is god and banishes his son for having a baby with his sister.

It’s not long before their lives become sterile; relationships die and the cycle begins anew.

This is sensory theatre strictly for adults!

“Black Hole Theatre promotes its work as puppetry for adults and, if you ever had a thing for Mr Squiggle or Elmo, COOP will give you a whole new appreciation for what can be done in the name of puppetry… who would have thought that a raw chicken carcass in street shoes could have so much comic acting potential?”
